The band consists of guitarists Sean Heenan, Jason Kolb, Eli Wekenman, Ron Gibbs and drummer Jason Wiesinger. The quintet came together out of its members' shared affection for bands like Seefeel, Flying Saucer Attack, earlier works from Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, along with many of the acts on the 4AD and Creation Records imprints.
In 1997, Burnt Hair Records of Dearborn, Michigan released the 'Dual Group' EP — a split recording with Auburn Lull and Mahogany — which received U.K. airplay via John Peel's BBC radio program. Their full-length debut, Alone I Admire, recorded and produced by Andrew Prinz of Mahogany and initially released on Burnt Hair in 1999, was later reissued by Darla Records in 2002. Zeal Records of Belgium released a highly limited 7" 'Behind All Curses Of Thought Lies The Ability To Focus On Vacant Spaces' in 2001. Cast From The Platform was released in 2004. A vinyl and rarities compilation "Regions Less Parallel" appeared in 2005. 2008 saw the release of the "Begin Civil Twilight" LP.
